Te Akau Racing Stables

Fortuna’s Trainer of choice.

PROUD HOLDERS OF THE NEW ZEALAND RECORD FOR MOST WINS IN A SEASON WITH 108 WINNERS (2009-2010).

Te Akau Racing Stables has established an enviable record as one of the most successful Training establishments in New Zealand’s racing history. Established by Te Akau Principal, David Ellis, Te Akau Racing has been New Zealand’s Champion Stable for five of the past seven years. During that period, Mark Walker was at the helm as Te Akau’s trainer. In 2010 Mark relocated to Singapore, where he now heads up Te Akau’s operation there and has already established himself as a significant training force in the booming City/State. In Singapore, Mark is ably asisted by Gus Clutterbuck, himself a former successful jockey and trainer and whom for a number of years was Stable Foreman at Te Akau Racing’s Rangiora Stables.

In New Zealand, Jason Bridgman is now busy consolidating himself as Te Akau NZ trainer. Jason is currently 3rd on the 2011/12 Trainer’s Premiership. Jason is ably assisted by assistant trainers, Pam Gerard at the Matamata base and Neill Ridley at Te Akau Racing’s Rangiora base.

The Te Akau Racing philosophy is simple; acquire well bred, athletic race horse, feed them well, apply the highest standards of care, handling and training trechniques coupled with sound racing management practice and the winners will flow.
