EATONS GOLD wins again in Singapore

FORTUNA 3yo gelding EATONS GOLD (Jetspur-Road Ranger) extended his Singapore race day record to two wins, a second and two fifths from just five ray day starts when taking out a 1200 metre Novice event at Singapore's Kranji race course on Sunday 8th January.

EATONS GOLD was having his first start on the Turf track as all of his previous runs had been on the Polytrack, had drawn 10 from the barrier in a field of 12 starters and also had to contend with a rain affected track.

" There was some nervousness in the camp prior to the start," reports FORTUNA Director, John Galvin, "the wide draw, first start on the Turf and then the rain." The race plan had been to let the horse jump well and settle him just off the pace, however EATONS GOLD started just a little awkwardly and finished up running one off the rail, slightly worse than mid field. However, 2011 season Champion Apprentice, Shafiq Rusof, did not panic, let the horse relax and eased him to the outside on the point of the turn. There was still some work to do however, as EATON was still standing the leaders seven or eight lengths, but maintaining a sustained run down the middle of the track, he went on to win nicely with half a length to spare on the line.

EATONS GOLD has now won just under S$80,000 for his ownership group, the Fortuna ( No 17) Syndicate, a group consisting of 29 people.
