FORTUNA's promising Three Year Old Gelding, last start winner EATONS GOLD, to start in Singapore Tuesday 24th January
FORTUNA's 3yo EATONS GOLD is looking to get the ( Chinese) New Year off to a cracking start when he contests a Graduation event over 1200 metres on the Turf track at Singapore Turf Club's Chinese New Year meeting at Kranji 24th January.
An impressive last start winner at Kranji on 8th January, EATONS GOLD ( Jetspur-Road Ranger by Encosta de Lago) will be ridden by Singapore Champion jockey, Joao Moreira.
Fortuna Director, John Galvin explains that he and trainer, Mark Walker, are not yet quite sure how talented their charge is. " EATON has had five starts in Singapore for two wins, a close 2nd and two 5ths. Both of the 5ths were resuming runs, so clearly the horse has ability. What we are now trying to work out is if he has enough ability to seriously be competitive in the upcoming 3yo series in Singapore. Having Joao Moreira to ride on Tuesday will be very helpful in this assessment as Joao has ridden many of the current top 3yo's in Singapore, including Super Star, SUPER EASY, who is unbeaten in five starts."
EATONS GOLD is a graduate of the 2010 Karaka Select Sale and is owned by the Fortuna ( No 17) Syndicate.

PRE RACE COMMENT FROM TRAINER MARK WALKER:
“Eaton’s Gold has really done well since his good win and so we will take him to the races again on Tuesday – which is a Chinese New Year holiday here. He gets into this race with only 54.5kgs and we have the services of Singapore’s star jockey, Joao Moreira.
It will be good to get Moreira’s assessment as to whether he thinks Eaton is up to taking on the top horses in the 3 year old series or whether he thinks we should set our sights more modestly.
We will aim to ride him quietly from the barrier through the early stages and hope to see him finishing strongly again. This is a better field than he faced last start, but with any luck I think he can finish somewhere in the first 4 on Tuesday.”
