Profile of John Galvin, Director of Fortuna Ltd

Born and educated in the Wellington region, John Galvin is the Principal of JGFP Ltd, a Hamilton based Financial Advisory and Private Banking company. This business was established by John in 1986 after having previously been involved in farming and politics. John's other business interests include Directorships of companies involved in Property Development and Investment Management.

John cut his teeth at an early age with respect to thoroughbred racing with extended family and close friends who had strong links to the thoroughbred industry providing a strong influence. "Trentham races during my formative years was almost a second home to me" says John. John has retained a life long passion for the Sport of Kings, that passion eventually leading to ownership (via syndicates) of a number of gallopers, Templequay, Kapsdan, Comical Ali, Lady Classique, Star Align, Saperavi and the outstanding colt, Darci Brahma. All of these horses have been winners on the race track and John has a strong desire to attempt to bring that "winning streak" to all of the horses owned by the Fortuna Syndicates. This "winning streak" paid off  in the 2007/08 season with four out of five Fortuna raceday starters  winning on raceday, a very satisfying outcome for Fortuna and its investor clients. The streak continue in the 2008/09 season with Tell A Tale being the dominant  3yo colt/gelding of the season and 2yo Rio Fortune also winning twice from four starts including the (Listed)  Castletown Stakes.

John in his capacity as Director of Fortuna Ltd, brings strong administration and business skills to the table and his life long exposure to the world of thoroughbred racing makes him an ideal person to be heading up the Fortuna Syndicates business.
